If you were to mix together, Lynrd Skynrd, Merle Haggard, Dwight Yocum, Dion, ZZ Top, Alabama, Queen, Brooks and Dunn and decades of musical influence from the music of the 50's through to the hot tunes of today, you would have a "Back In The Saddle" performance.
Carl Mager is the lead singer and lead guitarist. In addition to guitar he also plays the banjo for the bluegrass set. Carl has been playing professionally for over 25 years, mastering a range of styles that include country, classic country, rock and blues. His work, when he is not working a crowd, is as an HVAC technician; and, in his free time he enjoys hunting, fishing and working on his farm.
Jim Mager covers keyboards, rhythm, harmonica, backup vocals and generally acts as the Emcee for the group. Working with bands in both the country and rock genre, he has always had the preference for country — especially when it stays close to the roots of the traditional sounds. Jim is a manufacturing executive and also teaches business at the university level. He enjoys his horses and working to make his farm environmentally sustainable.
Jeremiah Mager plays bass for the group. As the need arises he can grab an acoustic guitar and cover rhythm and a little bit of keyboards. He also covers the high harmonies for the band’s three-part vocal structures. Being quite the dart thrower, Jeremiah plays on a dart league when not busy as a contracts administrator for a major St. Louis corporation. As with his Uncle Carl he is also an avid outdoorsman.
Mike Edwards is the drummer, and the newest member of the group. As a seasoned musician, he has played with a number of dance bands and is now settling in to the show band environments of Back In The Saddle. Mike is the guy who can always bring a spirit of good times with his constant jovial mood. When not playing music, he works as a locksmith for a large educational institution in the St. Louis area; as well as providing locksmith services to his own private clients.
